Meanderings

night lights

The town was filled with a thousand sights
a thousand emotions, and some delights
 *
some peoples faces I saw were mostly masks
hiding reality from my inquisitive glance
 *
night-time fell and with it the cold
it nipped at my ears and the tip of my nose
 *
the sky was clear there was frost in the air
I shivered and turned for my lone journey home
 *
my footsteps made a drumming-like sound
so I hummed a tune as I walked along
 *
lights twinkled brightly from billions of stars
as I mused on the briefness of my earthly stay
 *
dust in the heavens and my dust of the earth
co-joined by creation for my moment in time
 *
are there similar meanderings now taking place
in our magnificent universe whizzing in space?
